Okay, no tears here, but I do understand the stress thing. And the heat issue is a problem, especially when you are from the Northwest. Feel free to high jack my blog anytime. I like to think of it as a communal blog, where we all discuss what ever the subject happens to be, even if it's not the topic we start out with. That is very cool.

Your DH's family sounds lovely. But, can they play scrabble?

Try not to be too depressed and stressed by that Hawaii-SNORT

Yeah, it sounds good, but it's-- we get up, go to MIL's house and hang out in no air-con heat of 90 degrees, then go to lunch. Back to hotel for an hour or two and then back to MIL's-out to dinner-back to hot house and sit talking until 10pm and back to hotel. E-ve-ry day.

I love my MIL. Truly, she's a warm, beautiful, fun woman whom I'm totally in love with and who actually treats me more like a daughter than my own mom, but it's not a vacation. And this year, her B-day is on Thanksgiving, so we will be there for that and have to go to DH's sister's DH's huge, huge family get-together.

This all equals major stress to me. Not a fun vaca in which DH and I can just kick back and have fun and relax. And we do this every year, so it's just not that exciting anymore.

Don't you just love how I hijacked your blog to complain? LOL
You can start to feel sorry for me now. LOL

Hi Leah!

I agree with all your reasons and more. Try not to be too depressed and stressed by that Hawaii-SNORT.

I'm having some computer woes, so if you don't hear back from me within a day, put it down to that. Though, I've found a work around.

I like fall (October) best because:

1. I’m fat and I get to wear bulky clothes that cover me up.

2. I don’t have to mow the lawn or do garden work anymore, which I hate.

3. I prefer cool, darker days and fall means that the heat and all that eye hurting bright sun is over with.

4. I like to sleep in a cool/cold room and snuggle under a nice down quilt. And I like snuggling under a blanket with DH while watching TV or reading.

5. The new season starts on TV and reruns are over.

6. More crappy weather means that I don’t have to feel guilty about staying inside and reading or wasting time on the net.

7. The movie theaters are empty during matinee times.

When it starts heading into Nov. then I have to deal with the holidays, which means stress to me. Including my yearly trip to Hawaii. I know, poor me.

I know it’s not what you asked exactly, but my favorite day is Thurs. because it’s my first day off every week and I know I’ll have 4 full days to do whatever I want.

Hey congrats on your book coming out. Good luck on your book signing event. I’m sure you’ll sell a whole bunch and get some new fans. How exciting for you!

Thanks Kathy!

You hit upon the very thing that I like best about fall and that is the slowing down of life. The sense of urgency is gone, the blazing heat of summer is also gone. I like that it's dark early and the grass doesn't have to be mowed as often.

I think Autumn is my favourite season of all as well.

The hot temperatures of summer, for the most part anyway, are a thing of the past. The colours of the leaves, while they don't last anywhere near long enough, are splendid and a visual feast of which I never tire. And life seems to once again slow down ~ at least once school is back in and the kids settled.

As for my favourite day and or month? That's more difficult. I guess a day where the family all gets together and celebrates whichever season it is, but most of all we're celebrating us. Living here in Edmonton are my mom, one of my brothers (two others are far away ~ one in PEI and the youngest in England) and his family, and both of my sisters and one sister's family. When we have the opportunity to all get together, the *kids* ~ for want of a better term ~ all have a marvelous time.

So while I may not have a set day that I consider a favourite, there are a few days in the year where I have much thankfulness.

Oh, and Rhianna, I've pre-ordered Shaking Off the Dust so that I can have it in print as well. Can hardly wait!

Hi Kathy,

You have so much that is in your life and so many people you have touched that I feel sure you need only be yourself to have lived a wondrous life. Thanks for your kind words, I know Kathy would have appreciated them.

Rhianna, what a beautiful testament to a life well-lived; you do have a marvelous way with words. But then we know that....
My father-in-law's death raised many, many memories of the strength of his character and of his impact on the lives of all who passed by. And Kathy Russell sounds as though she, too, knew how to get the most from her days ~ when I grow up I want to be just like her.
