) I like the underdog who gets out there and maybe makes a big ass of him/herself by not being anywhere near the best, and yet, tries. ()

No wonder you like me so much. I make an ass of myself and make it look easy.

I am an underdog fan myself. But, this time with Phelps, he is the underdog. Who would believe he could win gold at every event he was entered in. That's an underdog, only on a grander scale.

Besides, he read an article with Thorpe saying he couldn't do it, so by golly he decided he could do it.

Last night they showed the 26 kilimeter womans long distance running and I got to the point that I couldn't even watch. It was punnishing for the viewer. This athletes push them selves to the edge. I can't even begin to think of that kind of committment to something so grueling. That's why I like Phelps, he listens to his Ipod then jumps in the pool and he's gone. There's no big production about it, except for what the press piles on.

Okay, I became his fan despite every effort to root for the underdog.

I haven’t watched much of the games either. For some reason I just don’t care about them this time. Even the gymnastics, which are also my favorite.

But, I am a sucker for the man who just keeps going because he has a goal set in front of him.

Somehow, I just don’t really care about the big winners. I like the underdog who gets out there and maybe makes a big ass of him/herself by not being anywhere near the best, and yet, tries. I’ll never forget in the 2000 games. In one of the swimming events there was this one guy from some obscure African country who got out there and competed and was so slow and such a bad swimmer that all the others were done way before him. He kept swimming though, finishing the course, and the crowd started cheering this guy, giving him a standing ovation. I just loved that! I don’t like to take away from someone who has worked hard for their gold or prize or whatever; they deserve it. But I love more to root for the underdog, or the one who comes from behind and unexpectedly wins.

Phelping my way through my daily life is not exactly how I roll. *Snort*

No, really… you? :P

A sad thought came to me, “depends entirely on if I think it might be fun.”

What is sad about that? I don’t do pressure, so I’d probably blow Nike off if it were me. Now, that IS sad. If they gave me money to be a no good Internet surfin, lazy bum, then hell yeah! I can get with that program.

When they have the award for the best Rhianna Samuels, I’m there.

We’ll have to see what we can do about that. :)
